I like the ideas within this YA novel. The mysterious Chinese characters, the stories told by the travelers, and the adventure to reveal the hidden secret of the Greenglass house.

Our little protagonist, Milo, was an adopted child who always wondered about his born parents. It didn't mean he had a terrible life with his adopted parents. In the contrary, they lived in the Greenglass house happily. Therefore, sometimes Milo would feel sorry and guilty to his adopted parents because of thinking or imaging of his born parents.

To my surprise, after reading the whole book, the identity parts are the most impressive plot to me. I like the struggle inside Milo's mind, and see him go through it. I feel like I can find out who I am, and image that I might have some undiscovered potential as well.

The Greenglass house was an inn, built high above in the mountain. Ms. Milford described every floor with very specific details that would make the readers picture the house in their mind. (The beautiful stained-glasses just reminded me the cathedrals that I'd visited in Germany many years ago. How grand and wonderful it is!)
